Massage Pricing
Because I practice Integrative Massage, where I use all or some of the below various techniques as needed during a session, I do not differentiate prices for my services. I bill for my time. This includes appointments for Reiki services, although I would not recommend anything less than 45 minutes for a Reiki session and the ideal would be an hour. Please call for appointment availability and pricing.
Spontaneous Muscle Release Technique (SMRT)
SMRT is a positional release modality used to easefully and naturally prompt the client's body to regain homeostasis. In its simplest form SMRT uses passive contraction of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissue to speak directly to the proprioceptors of the nervous system within these structures. If the communication between the therapist and the proprioceptors is clear and easeful, the client's tissue responds by moving toward its most comfortable, balanced state.
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
Neuromuscular Therapy
Neuromuscular therapy is a system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. Stanley Lief in England. It uses a holistic approach towards healing, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.
Reflexology
Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.
Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy work that cleanses and balances the energy system in the body. As a result, the body's natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum health. During a session, I work directly with your energy field to remove blockages, detoxify your system, and restore your vital life force energy. Reiki utilizes a gentle laying on of hands to conduct the necessary energy force between us. The benefits of Reiki range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.
Connective Tissue Therapy
A slow and deep massage technique that opens the tissue that glues muscle fibers together, allowing muscles that are tight to release into length. More…
Based on the work of Ida Rolf, connective tissue therapy is in the same family as Rolfing, Structural Integration, and Myofascial Release. Each of these styles works on the underlying principle that every muscle fiber that you have in your body is glued together with connective tissue, or fascia. Fascia is a gel, and gets softer or harder depending on the temperature and pressure applied to it.
When you contract a muscle through exercise or repetitive motion, the connective tissue heats and melts. After you finish working, the connective tissue cools into a more contracted shape. This is why you feel tight after a workout. An overuse shoulder injury can be caused by something as simple as using a computer mouse daily. The injury starts as pain in the shoulder, neck, upper or lower back, and forces other muscles to tighten to keep you stable. Over the long term, pain can travel to the hips, knees, ankles, and/or feet. Or it can travel out the arm towards the elbow, wrist, and/or fingers.
Connective tissue therapy takes advantage of the fact that fascia melts with slow sustained pressure, allowing the therapist to lengthen and reshape a muscle. Clients generally report feeling some intensity of sensation with the work, but also an immediate sense of relief and ease in the area after a stroke is completed. When a therapist is good at reading the body for imbalances, the work can be focused exactly where it is needed.
Cancellation Policy
I understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. In the desire to be effective and fair to all clients, the following policies are honored:
24-hour advance notice is required when cancelling an appointment. This allows the opportunity for someone else to schedule an appointment. If you are unable to give 24 hours advance notice you will be charged half the amount of your appointment. This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment.
No-shows
Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a “no-show.” They will be charged for their “missed” appointment. This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment and you will be billed for the missed appointment.
Late Arrivals
If you arrive late, your session may be shortened to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Depending upon how late you arrive, I will then determine if there is enough time remaining to start a treatment. Regardless of the length of the treatment given, you will be responsible for the “full” session. Out of respect and consideration to your therapist and other customers, please plan accordingly and be on time. New clients that need to fill out intake forms are expected to arrive 5-10 minutes early to do so prior to your massage appointment.
